Bangkok By Bike offers travelers a safe and exciting experience in one of the world’s most interesting cities. You will travel through genuine Thai districts where you can see the way of life in Thai society. You will cycle through small streets without any traffic, entering alleys, markets and along the canals. Some areas are more like a jungle, still it is not far away from the rush in the city. Despite cycling, it is a relaxing trip, slow tempo and plenty of stops. Bangkok is very flat, you will never become exhausted. Our excursions are more than just cycling. You will be gaining a bit of knowledge and insight into Thai culture and traditions, as well as understanding of life in Thailand. You will have many impressions and experiences from the trip to remember for a long time. We travel in small groups, you will have ample opportunity to ask your guide questions.
Morning trip 8.00-12.30 This trip heads north, along the riverside. It is totally off all tourist tracks, but we will still be able to see some spectacular temples and monuments never mentioned in any guidebooks. The trip goes through three different areas where we can follow the way of life in contrast to each other. After lunch we will reach the final area, which is a rural district, with plantations and gardens. Actually it is hard to believe we are still in Bangkok. In the end a long-tail boat is waiting to take us back along the Bangkok Noi Canal.
Afternoon trip 13.00-17.30 This trip focuses on the lifestyle along the canals on the Thonburi-side of the river. Just a block away from the meeting point we seem to left the city far behind us. First stop is at Baan Bu village, a little community famous for their local production of stone-polished bowls. Then, we take a quick look at the old railway station and the large market next to it. We will continue cycling on to the beautiful Wat Arun temple. After lunch by the canal, we will journey away from the river to more green and quiet local areas. You will see how people live in these neighborhoods amongst a jumble of canals and narrow alleys. A long-tail boat takes us back again.
Weekend trip 10.00-17.30 This is a full day trip, every Saturday and Sunday. We will make a visit to a Floating Market, which is open only on the weekends. Before that, we will visit at The Royal Barges Museum. Then, we will pass khlong houses built on poles in the water, the traditional way of living in Bangkok. The small alleys are very narrow, be careful of your balance. At the Floating Market, we will have a nice meal with many different Thai specialties. There will be plenty of time to look around and maybe sample some sweets as well. Our cycling journey continues west, away from the centre, passing interesting temples and friendly local communities. A half an hour ride in a long-tail boat will be the end of the trip and gives you time to think back of a day filled with many impressions.
Bangkok By Night: 18.30-21.00 + dinner It is very exciting cycling in Bangkok in the daytime and even more so at night. We will start the trip just at dusk. The trip will cover the area called Rattanakosin Island where we will pass almost all the famous temples andmonuments. They are very beautiful when lit at night. One of the highlights of the trip is the wonderful flower market, which is really busy even when it is late. It is a fairly short trip, and in only 2,5 hours we have seen more than other tourists spend days to cover. The cycling-trip will be followed by a BBQ-buffet included in the price. Eat as much as you like and stay as long as you like.
