Booking a home by credit card speeds sales

The Nation March 12, 2009 Developers and banks getting more innovative Property companies have begun to launch new and different marketing campaigns to boost their sales in the first quarter of this year by collaborating with banks, in some cases inviting payments via credit card. This is seen as a way to speed up customers' decisions to buy residences. Sansiri assistant vice president for condominium marketing and product development Dusadee Tancharoen said her company was running a joint marketing campaign with Siam Commercial Bank, under which booking payments for condominium units at Sansiri's Blocs 77 project on Sukhumvit Soi 77 could be made using the bank's credit cards, and would incur no interest for six months. "We have tried to find an easy way for our customers to buy our projects. Most of them have credit cards, so it will be easier for them to use credit cards to book our projects, rather than holding cash to make the booking payment," she said. Supalai's director and deputy managing director Atip Bichanond said his company had joined Bangkok Bank to invite customers to make down payments and pay monthly instalments through their Bangkok Bank credit cards. This will save customers' time when making these payments. "We believe that when we accept down payments by credit card it will be easier for our customers to make the decision to buy. It will also be easier for us to select the customers because the bank will have judged their suitability before offering them lines of credit," he said. S&S Residential, an affiliate of TCC Capital Land, is trying something different. It is offering referral fees with an ultimate cash value of Bt15,000 to people who call to identify potential buyers. Chief executive Soammaphat Traisorat said the campaign, called "Spread the Message and Get the Money" involved the company's S&S Sukhumvit 101 development. He said the company launched the campaign to boost sales because home-buyers were still delaying their decisions to buy.
